February 2 – 6 (Week 22)
It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the treads of that tapestry are equal in value no matter their color.

As you all know we celebrated our 100th day
of school on Monday! We used the day to reflect on all the things that we’ve
learned. With an oversized 1 and 2 zeros we wrote recorded 100 things that we
have learned in regards to math, science, social studies, and ELA.
100 ways to make 100!!
Tallying our Marks to 100...
100 things we've learned in science and social studies!!
100 books that we've read!!
Math
We’ve still been working hard on mastering addition
with regrouping. This week we will be working on addition word problems! The
students love the games race to 100 and dice jump!! These are both great games
for practicing fluency with addition.
Dice jump!!
ELA
We’ve been working on understanding adjectives and
adverbs and noticing how they can add to our writing! Lately, we’ve been
revisiting sentence structures. The kids were doing so well with writing
complete sentences, but lately they have been struggling. We will continue to
work on it.
Social Studies
Fairytales and Folktales galore!!! We began by looking
at the multiples cultural version of Cinderella. Well this week we’ve been
looking at multiple folktales from multiple cultures and what the moral or
setting may tell us about the different cultures. This week the students will
be creating their own fairy tales. They have been asking about presenting them
so we may need an audience very soon (stay posted)!!!
