Week 28
Dear Soldier...
For the past few weeks we've really been digging into the civil war and slavery! The kids are absolutely captivated with the civil war, causes, battles, and overall just what happened during the civil war. One thing that really caught the attention of the kids were the soldiers. They were intrigued by the lives and conditions in which the soldier lived. So I had the students write letters to soldiers who served in the civil war. This was their time to tell the soldiers how they felt or to ask any burning questions they had. We will be using those questions to further explore the war and the lives of soldiers.

Fraction Autobiography
WOW!!! I was very impressed at the creativity and hard work the majority of the kids put into their projects. Although I've had these kids for two year, I was able to learn a great deal about each of them through their project.

Camp Discovery
By far the best field study we've experienced! The kids enjoyed being able to explore the outdoors and to dig their hands in soil and other natural materials!

Matter Investigations
On Thursday the kids broke into groups and were given 1 of 3 investigative questions: how could you turn water into a solid, how could you turn a piece of chocolate into a liquid, how could you turn an ice cube into a liquid. Each group had the job of creating an investigation in order to answer their question. The kids took on the investigation all on t heir own. I was only there to supply the supplies that they needed to carry out their investigation on Friday. They took anecdotal notes. We will be discussing their findings on Monday!
