March 7 - 11

Week 27
Fractions...Fractions...Fractions!
Fractions have been no match for the kids! I believe the lightbulb has finally went off for each on of the kids and they've had that ah ha moment!! Since the kids have a clear understanding of fractions we've been challenging their understanding with some easy and tricky real life fractional word problems! The kids have taken on the challenge and have really done a great job! Something that I've noticed, however, is that the majority of their mistakes come from not reading the questions that is being asked. Instead they assume that they know wha the question is going to ask! I'm strategizing some ways in which to slow them down with their thinking! We will continue to work on this for next week!

Window Writing
We've been talking a lot about perspective and what causes our perspectives to be the way they are! We've also been discussing point of view writing. To better understand perspective I've had the kids do some more window writing! I'm surprised at how much interest the kids have taken with this window writing! I've enjoyed reading their writing pieces and they've enjoyed sharing them with the class.

Maker's Spaces
The kids have absolutely fallen in love with the maker's spaces in the library! These are spies for kids to explore different arts and crafts, robotics, technology, circuits, amongst other things. The kids have been alternating their recess time dive into the maker's spaces and explore some new things.

Enjoying the Warm Weather
On Friday, we went out for some fresh air, warmth, sweet treats, and writing! The kids are always able to get some new ideas for writing from outdoors. There is something about being out in nature that sparks their minds!

Morning Show Debuts
Our very own Isabel and Tyla were picked to be on the morning show to give a book review on One Crazy Summer! They did a fantastic job and hopefully have inspired some kids and adults int he building to give the book a try!
