Week 4 -5 (September 12 - 23)
Plant Growth
We're recently worked with Mrs. Alexander to jumpstart our vegetable garden. The kids had such an amazing time planting. Since then we've been monitoring and recording the growth of our different vegetables. We will continue to track the growth. What Earth Has To Offer Us
We've been looking closely at the different resources (renewable and nonrenewable) that Earth is able to give us or rather that we're able to take from Earth. We've discussed the resources that are necessary for survival and also the different resources that are not necessarily needed, but that instead, make our life easier. We've also continued to study the different landforms and water features that we can see all around our planet. We've discussed which of these landforms we are more likely to see in our state, city, and neighborhood.
The kids had an awesome time with Dr. Doug as he showed us the different processes of the land around us. The kids had a chance to witness how sand was made, the effects or weathering and erosion, and how rivers are able to break down rocks into very fine pieces. The kids really enjoyed themselves and learned so much from their experience with Dr. Doug.
Getting To Know Our Technology
This is the first year that the kids have the opportunity to have their own personal Chromebook. They are still getting accustomed to using their Chromebook and operating the different apps and features that come with it. This week we spent some time learning how to open, read, and send emails. This week for morning work I sent the students an email asking "If your skin could talk, what would it say"! Here are their responses! =)We also learned how to work google docs and google slides (perhaps their favorite way to use the chrome books). We will continue to work with the Chromebook and continue to learn those technology life skills!
