October 3 - 15 (Week 7 -8)

Week 7 – 8 (October 3 – 14)

Math
Decomposing and understanding what multiplication is and the properties that go along with it, has been our main focus these past two weeks. We are now beginning to work on finding missing factors and solving for unknown factors. We will eventually begin working with multiplication fluency. I want to make sure that the kids have a firm grasp on what multiplication truly is before we begin working on memorization and algorithms.

What’s A Good Reader?
As I conference with the student about their reading, they are beginning to get a better understanding of who they are as a reader. We’ve been discussing what a good reader does, some goals they have for reading, and what they would like to do as readers that others are doing as readers. We’ve also listened to a secret reader to see what it is that they are doing really well as a reader and also to discuss their miscues. This allows students to hear and understand what fluency sounds like and also for them to get some new ideas for books they’d like to read.

Diamond Dell
The kids had a blast and panned for lots of cool minerals!

Lunch outside
With such nice weather, we’ve been enjoying our lunch outside, cleaning up our playground, and having a little extra recess!!!
