Week 25
A Rainy, Cold Day at the State House...
I would like to thank Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Simmons, and Mr. Tinsley for chaperoning our field study to the State House! It was a cold and wet one, but the majority of the kids throughly enjoyed themselves. We were able to walk the group and learn some very interesting information that supplied a connection for us all as we move into our Civil War unit. We were also able to see the inside which was BEAUTIFUL and that left the kids in awe!
Fractions are No Match for Us
WOW!!! I'm beyond impressed with how fast the kids have grasped the concept of comparing and decomposing fractions! I know that this has much to do with the practice that you all have been supplying them at home! I was a little worried when we first started because the kids, although excited, were pretty hard on themselves because portioning was a hard concept to grasp! They are moving along quite well though! Please continue to practice with the at home so that we can continue to strengthen their knowledge.
Moe Willem's Stories
As I'm sure that you've all heard, the kids and I are creating our own version of the Moe Willem infamous Piggy and Elephant stories. I've never seen the kids so excited or consumed with a a project. We will be finishing up the stories this week and planning to celebrate our book launching with out book buddies. Remember, you guys are always welcome as well! =)
Life in the 1800's Group Project...
The kids worked very hard on their life in the 1800s project. They were responsible for taking a look into the different social classes and how they were treated by society and also how their existence affected society. There were many facts involved, but there was also some opinions...and varying options at that! I must say that I love how our kids have grown to be able to respectfully argue their view and opinion!
