Week 26
Expert Projects
The kids never cease to amaze me when it comes to their expert projects! Since we've been working on expert projects since October, I wasn't as lenient with the grading. The kid have had much practice and know what is expected from their monthly expert projects. We also created a class list of expectations that we thought should be included and expected from expert projects!
Black History Program
What an interesting treat the black history program was! With it's theme "Rooted in the past, growing toward the future", the kids were given look at African Americans who have had an affect on our country and on our lives! Our very own Chase Simmons and Jordynn Palmer were feared in the program. Jordynn served as Bessie Coleman and Chase served as Sidney Poitier! The program was a treat!
Matter Matters
I'm so happy to be taking another look at matter this year; just a little more in depth! We focused on the states of matter last year in second grade, but this year we will be taking an even closer look at matter. The kids love matter (and so do I) because it allows us a chance to get our hands dirty with some investigating!
Book Clubs
THE WAIT IS OVER!! The kids have been waiting and I've been planning! We are officially starting our book clubs next Monday! The kids enjoy book club so much that they have even started their own book clubs in the classroom. Ja'Juan and Tyla have begun reading Bud, Not Buddy! They seem to be enjoying the book and have been having some very interesting conversations around the book. We will have 5 different book clubs: Lawn boy, Liar Liar, Clementine, Because of Winn-Dixie, and Out of my Mind! We are currently waiting for our books to come in. If you'd like to join one of our book clubs, please let me know!
