Week 30
Geometry
We have officially dived into geometry and the kids absolutely intrigued with the shapes, why they have their names, and how they shapes can be categorized by the similarities and differences. Right now we are investigating quadrilaterals and parallelograms in hopes of understanding what what attributes need to be in ordered to be considered a quadrilateral or quadrilateral. We will continue to work with these shapes in order to learn more about their attributes.
Poetry
We worked quite a bit with poetry last year, but we are looking at it a little closer. We've been looking at many different types of poems: poems that rhyme, poems that don't, poems written in 1st person, poems written in 3rd person, poems about different objects & subjects, and so on. The kids are noticing and naming many of the author crafts. We've looked really closely at alliteration, smiles, and metaphors. They've been experimenting with these crafts in their own writing as well.
Enjoying the Weather
We've had quite a few chilly, windy days but on Friday we were able to make our way out to the courtyard for some outdoor reading. It's always nice to enjoy a book while emerged in the sounds and smalls of nature.
We were also able to finish up our expert project presentations!!!
