Week 15 (December 1 – 5)
It’s been another great week in room 604! It’s
amazing how fast the time goes when you’re having fun!! We’ve been working so
hard on so many different projects. We’re still working on our matter writing,
our helping the homeless project, and we are also in the process of creating
our own books.
Matter Writing
Each of the kids brought in a state of matter that
they really liked. There was matter ranging from pencils to a nutcracker to a
balloon. The kids were so excited and proud of the matter that they brought in.
They then used their matter and their 5 senses to write about it. We are still
working on our published pieces, so stay tuned!
Helping the Homeless
As you all know, we have begun our service-learning
project to help the homeless. We’ve hung posters around the school to solicit
support from our fellow Wildcats. So far we’ve collected a few jackets and some
activity books. We will be collecting items until the last week of school. If
you’re family has any items to donate please feel free to send them into the
classroom. We are collecting socks, hand sanitizer, Kleenexes (individual
packs), chapstick, scarves, gloves, mittens, packages of crackers, small
candies, activity books, pens, and crayons. We are looking forward to
presenting our project to the school in hopes of encouraging others to also
help the less fortunate.
Our First Book Publication
Our kids have so much talent when it comes to
writing and illustrating. I’ve bragged on them so much and I am so excited that
we finally have the opportunity to work on publishing our first books. The
writing process is a long and tedious one but the students have been enjoying
learning “what writers do”! I am looking forward to seeing their finished
product.
I’m looking forward to another great week with my
20 amazing kidos! =)
