Week 13
Food Chains
We’ve been diving into the lives of animals lately! We’ve discussed how animals can be categorized by how they get their energy and also by what they eat. Each our kids were assigned an animal that is easily found in South Carolina. They have been working all week to learn about their animal and to create a food chain to display where their animal fall on this food chain. I’m excited to see what the kids start noticing as we present our food chains next week and also as the food chains start overlapping!

Teacher Appreciation week
This week we celebrated the idea of learning and the freedom to receive an education. We talked about what and who we were thankful for in our educational lives. The school assigned each day as a fun dress up day to show appreciation for those in the education business. I was able to grab a few pictures of the kids and myself in our suspenders.

Math
We’ve been working with math to discuss different things and way to measure things. We’ve discussed how solids and liquid have to be measured using different units and also how we can measure time. We’ve spent the majority our week mucking around with different instruments to measure and also we’re still practicing time so that we can on day master it!

Native Americans
We finished our “official” Native American unit 2 weeks ago, but we’ve still been discussing them in class because the kids are so intrigued with them. They’ve been working on creating their own folk tales, myths, and legends. They presented these on Friday and I was BLOWN AWAY!! They were so fantastic! Perhaps we can present these again this coming week to the parents who are able to attend our family feast!

Special visitor
On Friday we had a very special visitor. One who we haven’t seen since last year! Zaria’s grandmother came to spend half of the day with us! She is so wonderful with the kids and they love seeing her! They each wanted to sit with her, talk with her, and ask her a million questions (I’m sure)! She brought some snacks for the kids (as if she hadn’t already won them over). We really enjoyed her visit and hope that she’s able to come back to visit soon! =)

Please remember that our 3rd grade family feast will be this Tuesday at 12:30. If you can, please be there by 11:50! We are looking forward to having all of the families there! =)
