October 17 - 21 (Week 9)

Week 9 (October 17 – 21)

Soil
The kids have been reading bout the Earth’s different layers of soil, how soil is made, and the amount of time it take to create just an inch of soil. We’ve learned that soil creation is a slow process but it always taking place, even when we can’t see. We’ve also been looking at the different types of soil, their texture, size, and smell.

Earth’s Processes
We learned that Earth had some slow process through working with soil. We also learned that Earth had some fast processes that changed its environment. We’ve been looking a erosion, weather, and deposition. We’ve also been looking at how these factors affect the soil, rocks, and the environment. With the help of Mrs. Alexander, we are able to do a hand’s on activity to see what weathering and deposition looks like on a smaller scale!

Time
Time…well we need more time to understand time!! Time is such a hard concept for the kids to understand. Many of them are able to tell time to the hour and half hour. We’re still working on understanding the analog clock, but with some practice at school and at home, I know that the kids master it!

Our Garden

Our kidos really have some "green thumbs"! Our garden is sprouting beautifully!!!
