Native
Americans
As I’m sure that you all have heard/seen, we’ve been getting to
know the Native Americans of SC a little better. The kids love learning about
then Native American tribes, their customs, and what they did for fun. The students
have been keeping some written and visual notes to help gain a better
understanding of each of the Native American groups and their way of life.
Sophia made such a cool personal connection! She connected her
what she was learning about the Native Americans to a time when she and her
family went to visit a Native American reservation. She was able to bring to us
a few artifacts she brought back from her trip.
The students attempted and some even succeeded at building their
own wigwags. We quickly learned that this was a task that required a lot of
teamwork, thinking, and tediousness. Some of the wigwams were able to withstand
storms, others….not so much!

Why are
incomplete sentences so funny?
The kids and I have been looking at complete versus incomplete
sentences and why it’s important to write in complete sentences, but how we can
sometimes get by with conversing in incomplete sentences. As we began looking
at out writing, he kids quickly noticed that incomplete sentences were pretty
funny and they also left the kids with lots of questions about what the writer
of that sentence was trying to convey.
A little
movement never hurt anyone!
We’ve been getting up and moving each day of class. It’s good
for the brain, but it’s also good for the body! Plus, let’s be honest, who doesn't love a little dance time?
THANKS SO MUCH FOR KEEPING US UPDATED!! THE KIDS ARE REALLY LEARNNG AND SEEM TO BE HVING FUN WHILE DOING SO!!!
