“Teachers who love
teaching, teach children to love learning”
~Robert John Meehan
There are many things that our kids enjoy within
the classroom. I am so happy that they have developed a love for learning and
for the process of learning. We’ve all experienced love before as an adult and
know how the effects of love can consume you. Imagine how far our babies can go
as they strengthen their love for learning!
A
Love for Reading
If there is nothing else our kids enjoy, it is
definitely their independent reading time and also read aloud! I’m sure their
reasoning behind their love for reading varies from child to child, but it is
evident that they truly enjoy and value the time to engulf themselves with a
book!
A
New Love for Assessing
We’ve recently starting using a new website called
Kahoot. It’s a teacher and student friendly website where assessments can be
created and taken. I would describe it as a mix between Jeopardy and a
multiple-choice test. I’ve been using Kahoot as a pre-assessment and also as a
review. The kids love using it!
Classroom
Unity “Where is the Love”
Over the past 2 weeks we’ve been experiencing some
not so kind behavior within our classroom. There has been some arguing,
meltdowns, and belittling. We’ve been working hard on strengthening our
classroom community and I’ve noticed a change in the way they treat one another.
They are venturing out and including more of their classmates in recess play,
they are complimenting one another, and they are helping each other much more.
We try to make time for singing every day because it’s good for reading, good
for the emotions, and good for the soul! On Friday as we sung “Together We Can
Change The World” and “Where Is The Love” and the kids all huddled up and
formed a line of unity and love! It was such a beautiful thing to watch.
Don’t
Let The Love Fade
As we come down to these last 2 weeks and also as
Summer comes along, let us not allow our kids to lose their love for learning.
Let’s strengthen this love through books, and supporting and encouraging their
individual inquiry and curiousity. If there is anything I can do to assist with
this over the summer please let me know!
